Three from Women's Golf Earn WGCA Academic Honors

Lexington, Ky. – A trio of female golfers from South Dakota Mines were named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar team announced recently.  Allison Kahler, Rianna Garland and Kenzie Schroeder earned the prestigious honor.
 
Kahler played in 19 rounds as a freshman and is majoring in chemical engineering.
 
Garland finished her collegiate career as one of the best female golfers in school history, named a two-time RMAC All-Conference selection, won four tournaments – a school record – and had many other accolades including a pair of top 10 finishes at the RMAC Championships. The Mesa, Arizona native graduated with a degree in chemical engineering.
 
Schroeder, also a freshman, played in 22 rounds as a freshman and is majoring in biomedical engineering.
 
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 650 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
