RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Hardrocker men's and women's track and field teams closed the regular season with a pair of last chance meets on Saturday.
The Hardrockers competed in the UNK Twilight meet in Kearney, Neb., and in the Azusa Pacific Franson Last Chance meet in Azusa, Calif. On the day they finished with one win and several personal bests.
Leading the way in Kearney was Isaiah Thurman, who won the men's hammer at 52.52 meters (172-feet, 4 inches), a personal best which puts him fourth all-time as a Hardrocker.
Also for the Hardrocker men, Cole Dobberstein placed fourth in the 400 hurdles in 54.06 seconds and Morgan Sandal finished eighth in the javelin at 55.35m (181-7), also a personal best.
Other 'Rocker men's results saw Kevin Osmanski in 10th place in the men's hammer at 45.76m (150-2), 11th in the shot put at 13.78m (45-2 ½) and 13th in the discus at 36.74m (120-6)
Jackson Parrill was seventh in the 3,000 steeplechase in 10:02.53 and Eli Huot was 12th in the hammer at 42.39m (139-1).
Jaycie Stubbs finished third in the discus at 42.53m (139-6) and 11th in the javelin at 36.31m (119-2) to pace the Hardrocker women.
Abbie Saline placed fifth in the women's 800 in 2:21.22, the second best all-time for the Hardrockers and Laine Mannes was eighth in 2:29.83.
Adeline Wilson placed ninth in the women's 400 in 1:01.77, a personal best that put her in ninth place all-time with the Hardrockers. She was also fifth in the 3,000 steeplechase in 12:36.27, the third best all-time.
In Azusa on Saturday, Allyson Heiden was 45th in the women's 1,500-meter run in 4:50.90, a personal best and the second-best time in Hardrocker history.
In California for the Hardrocker men, Owen Hansmann finished 39th in a very large 1,500 field of 155 runners in a time of 3:56.52, a personal best and No. 3 all-time for the South Dakota Mines. Tyler Captain was 62nd in 4:01.63, also a personal record, Tristan Enders was 85th in 4:06.35 and Zach Hentschel was right behind in 86th at 4:06.42.
Ty Brady finished 15th the 3,000 steeplechase in 9:26.99, a personal best and No. 2 all-time for the Hardrockers.
