RAPID CITY, S.D. – On Wednesday morning, head coach Lauren Torvi Prochazka finalized the 2024 South Dakota Mines volleyball schedule.
The Hardrocker volleyball team heads into the season with high hopes after completing their best Division II season in 2023, winning 18 games and qualifying for their third RMAC Tournament in the past four seasons as well as hosting and winning a game, each firsts for the program.
With much of the team coming back for 2024, the team expects to have another strong season even with a difficult slate of contests.
The early season opens with a pair of non-conference tournaments at Augustana and Black Hills State University.
Opponents at the Augustana tournament include programs with strong histories in Augustana, Northern State, Alaska Anchorage and Northwest Missouri State from Sept. 5-7.
Following that weekend, the Hardrockers compete in the Yellow Jacket Classic hosted by up-the-road rival, Black Hills State where they will take on the University of Minnesota Crookston, Montana State University Billings, the University of Sioux Falls and Eastern New Mexico University on Friday, Sept. 13 & Saturday, Sept. 14.
The month of September wraps up with four conference matchups, beginning with the home opening weekend on homecoming weekend, taking on Regis at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 and UCCS for an evening matchup on Saturday.
South Dakota Mines hits the road for six away matches in their next seven contests with the lone home matchup coming on Oct. 12 against Fort Lewis, sandwiched between are road contests at Adams State, CSU Pueblo, Chadron State, Black Hills State, Colorado School of Mines and MSU Denver on Sept. 27, Sept. 28, Oct. 1, Oct. 3, Oct. 18 and Oct. 19.
The Hardrockers finally return home to take on Black Hills State followed by New Mexico Highlands on Oct. 22 & 25, before a one-match trip to Gunnison for a matchup with the Mountaineers of Western Colorado on Oct. 29.
The month of October finishes with home matchups against Chadron State and an early CSU Pueblo to open the month of November.
On Nov. 8 and 9, SDM will be at Colorado Christian and Chadron State, before finishing the regular season at home with Westminster on the 15th and Colorado Mesa for senior day on Oct. 16.
The RMAC tournament is scheduled for Nov. 19-23.
