Hardrocker Track Returns To Action at Kearney

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Mines men's and women's track and field teams return to action Saturday after a week off from competition when the Hardrockers compete in the 2024 Central Nebraska Challenge in Kearney, Nebraska.

Hastings College and The University of Nebraska-Kearney will host the meet. Action begins at 10 a.m. MT with the field events, followed by the running events starting at noon.

The Hardrockers last competed March 16 at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invite in Pueblo, Colorado, and came away with a school record, one individual win, one relay first-place finish and several other top five results.

Clare Fischer set a school record in the women's 10K, finishing in a time of 38 minutes, 50.2. Jaycie Stubbs captured the javelin at 41.35 meters (135 feet, 7 ¾ inches) and performing well in the shot put, where she finished fourth at 13.12 meters (43-0 ½). She was also fifth in the discus at 38.48m (126-2 ¼). 

For the South Dakota Mines men, the 4X100 relay team of sophomore Eddie Johnson, Taegen Wells, Landon Ptacek and Lane Thomas finished first in 43.25.

The Hardrocker 4X400 relay A team of Cole Dobberstein, Merek Ranstrom, Thomas Greisen and Ethan Pitlick finished in second place in 3:33.69.

Dobberstein finished third in the 400 hurdles in 55.83 and Tristan Enders was third in the 5,000-meter run in 15:34.37, which puts him in 10th place in the South Dakota Mines all-time list.
 
Isaiah Thurman also finished in third place in the hammer throw at 52.32 meters (171-7 ¾), which puts him in fourth place on the top 10 marks.
