Women's Basketball Trio Earns Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Recently, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team for women's basketball was announced.
 
The 2023‐24 Academic All‐District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
 
Madelyn Heiser was selected for the second straight year, while Lauren Herman and Savea Mansfield earned the honor in the first year of eligibility.
 
To be eligible for the all-district team, student-athletes must have completed at least the past 12 months at their current institution, must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50, and must be a starter or a key reserve. Schools are allowed a maximum of four players on the Academic All-District team.
 
Madelyn Heiser wrapped up her career with South Dakota Mines after playing in 93 games, starting in 67. Heiser averaged 6.4 points per game this year, along with 4.2 rebounds per game and two assists per contest. She is a three-time RMAC All-Academic selection and earned the honor from CSC for the second consecutive year. In May, Madelyn will graduate with a degree in Pre-Professional Health Sciences.
 
Lauren Herman is a sophomore, majoring in industrial engineering and played in all 28 games, averaging just under 20 minutes per contest. Herman averaged five points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game. She is coming off a selection to the RMAC All-Academic team, also in the first year of eligibility.

Also a sophomore, Savea Mansfield, similarly to Herman earns the CSC honor and earned RMAC All-Academic this year in her first year of eligibility. Masnfield comes off a year in which she started 22 games, playing in all 28 and averaging 30.2 minutes per game. The Pre-Professional Health Sciences major averaged 11 points per game to go along with 5.1 rebounds per game.
