RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Mines men's and women's indoor track and field teams will look to put their best efforts forward as they compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Donald E. Young Center Fieldhouse on the Black Hills State University campus.
The meet begins at 9 a.m. Friday with the women's 60-meter hurdles of the pentathlon and 10 a.m. on Saturday with the men's 60 hurdles of the heptathlon.
The Hardrockers will look to improve on last year's results where the men's team finished in seventh place and the women in 12th place.
South Dakota Mines is led this season by freshman
Sawyer Nelson, who is ranked seventh in the triple jump and seventh in the high jump; freshman
Cooper Stevens, who is ranked ninth in the men's shot put; graduate student
Jaycie Stubbs, who is rated ninth in the women's shot put; senior
Taegen Wells, who is ranked 10
th in the 60 meter hurdles and freshman
Zachary Vanicek, who is ranked 10
th in the men's pole vault.

If the Hardrockers have any qualifiers, the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships are scheduled for Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 in Pittsburg, Kan. The Hardrocker men and women are scheduled to open the outdoor season Friday, March 15 at the Dr. Don Caprioglio Early Bird Invitational in Pueblo, Colo.
