Hardrocker Indoor Track Gets Final Tune-Up at Stinger Open

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Mines men's and women's indoor track and field teams will get one more tune-up before the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Championships when they compete in the Stinger Open Saturday in Spearfish.
 
The meet begins at 10 a.m. at the Donald E. Young Center Fieldhouse on the campus of Black Hills State University, which will also host the RMAC Indoor Championships Feb. 23-24.
 
The Hardrockers are coming off a good performance last weekend at the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings where they came away with two school records on the track.
 
On Friday, sophomore Clare Fischer finished broke the school mark in the women's 5,000-meter run in 17 minutes, 56.36 seconds. The old mark was previously set in 2017 by Kari Radke in 18:50.10.

On Saturday, freshman Cole Tatro ran his way to the top of the South Dakota Mines record book in the mile run, as he finished in 4:18.27. The previous top time was 4:19.99 by Ryan Moen in 2020.
 
The Hardrocker men and women also had 12 athletes move into the Top 10 in school history individually as well as one relay.
