LEXINGTON, Ky. – Wednesday was a day of milestones for Hardrocker volleyball. The morning brought the first two D2CCA All-South Central Region selections and another program first when the American Volleyball Coaches Association named its South Central Region selections.
South Dakota Mines is part of the South Central Region, along with the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the Lone Star Conference.
Alessandra Meoni became the first Hardrocker named to the first team in program history. It is the second year in a row she has earned AVCA honors, as she was named honorable mention for the AVCA's all-region and all-america teams in 2023.
After being an all-conference selection and the aforementioned honorable mention on the 2023 AVCA All-Region and All-American teams, Meoni broke the barrier, becoming the first to be named to the first team. Meoni finished the season as the RMAC leader in kills, kills per set, points, and points per set. Those numbers were all top-25th in NCAA Division II.
