RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines took on MSU Denver in Soccer on Thursday evening.
It was a well contested match and a match where the Hardrockers played well, but ultimately fell in a late heartbreaker.
The Hardrockers got on the board first in the 14th minute with a
Jayden Roque goal and were able to hold that through the first half and the beginning of the second, however, MSU Denver would tie it up about 15 minutes into the second half on a deflected ball.
For much of the second half, MSU Denver would continue to push but have a hard time generating significant opportunities with the strength of the South Dakota Mines defense.
Until late when
Jayden Roque got a yellow card after trying to connect on a bicycle kick that found an MSU Denver player. This was a second yellow for Roque, pushing it to a red, pushing the Hardrockers to 10 men with around 12 minutes remaining in the game.
South Dakota Mines fought valiantly but the Roadrunners scored with under three minutes to play, earning a 2-1 victory over SDM.
