Soccer Looks to Improve Playoff Position at Home

Box Score RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Mines men's soccer team has two games at home this week as they look to improve upon their playoff chances.
 
Currently sitting in fifth, the Hardrockers look to continue to earn points as they take on MSU Denver on Thursday and Colorado School of Mines on Sunday.
 
Those games kick off at 3 on Thursday and 1 on Sunday, with Sunday being Youth Soccer Day. The first 50 kids to arrive on Sunday will receive a free t-shirt.

ONE AWAY
Hayden Jaramillo is one assist shy of sitting solo atop the all-time career leaderboard at South Dakota Mines with 10. Currently, he sits at nine with Andreas Skau. Jaramillo's role has shifted a bit into more of an attacker as he is leading the team in shots and shot-on-goal percentage (min. 4 shots). His average of over one shot on goal per game is in the top 10 in the RMAC.
 
PLAYOFF POSITION
Six teams earn spots in the RMAC playoffs and the Hardrockers are currently sitting in fifth in the conference, leaving them in playoff position this late in the season for the first time in school history.
 
RESULTS, RESULTS, RESULTS
For the most part, the Hardrockers have taken care of business in RMAC play, earning results in three of four contests, falling only to a strong Fort Lewis team.
 
SCOUTING MSU DENVER
The Roadrunners have started the year with a 4-5-3 record while matching South Dakota Mines' RMAC mark of 1-1-2.
 
They sit middle of the pack in goals scored and goals allowed.
 
Leading scorers for MSU Denver include Luke Bone, Dallas Baer and Nicco Schiappa.
 
They also have a s couple of dynamic playmakers in Cooper Landry and Parker Landry who each have three assists.
 
SCOUTING COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES
Colorado School of Mines is struggling to begin the year with a 2-9-1 record and 1-2-1 in RMAC play.
 
Gabriel Rodriguez and Ayman Bushara are the leading goal scorers as they have four and three on the season.
 
Cadeb Allaire and Peter Saunders have split time in goal with seven and five starts while Allaire has allowed 2.29 goals per game and Saunders has allowed 1.60 per game.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
A split week follows for the Hardrockers as they take on Regis on the road on Friday, Oct. 25 and are at home vs. Colorado Christian on Sunday, Oct. 27.
