RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines indoor track and field teams return to action after a long holiday break when the Hardrockers compete Saturday, Jan. 13 in the Myrle Hansen Open, hosted by Black Hills State University.
 
Action begins at 11 a.m. inside the Donald E. Young Center Fieldhouse.
 
The Hardrockers last competed Friday, Dec. 8 in a dual against the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo. Leading the way for the South Dakota Mines men was senior Teagen Wells, who finished second in the 55-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 7.86 seconds, setting a school record. In the same event, freshman Merek Ranstrom also had a personal best at 8.25.
 
Other personal bests for the 'Rocker men include freshman Cole Dobberstein in the 400 (52.72), sophomore Eddie Johnson in the 55 (6.59), junior Isaiah Thurman in the weight throw (14.38 meters), senior Ian Cone in the weight throw (14.21) and junior Eli Huot in the weight throw (14.20).
 
For the Hardrocker women, earning personal bests were junior Abbie Van Ruler in the shot put (10.96), junior Abby Krumpus in the 55 hurdles (9.84), junior Amanda Cooley in the shot put (12.40) and junior Melissa May in the 55 (8.0) and the 200 (29.30).
