Box Score 2 SPEARFISH, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines volleyball team traveled up to Spearfish, South Dakota for the Yellow Jacket Classic this weekend. In their first match, the Hardrockers faced the Marauders from the University of Mary out of Bismarck, North Dakota. The 'Rockers dominated the Marauders in three sets. In the Hardrockers second match of the day, they defeated the Javelinas from Texas A&M – Kingsville 3-0.
 
The Hardrockers will finish up the Yellow Jacket Classic tomorrow with matches against Northern State (11:00 AM) and Montana State University Billings (3:00 PM).
 
vs. University of Mary
 
The Hardrockers made quick work of the Marauders from U of Mary in three sets (25-16; 25-15; 25-14). The 'Rockers had three players in double digits for kills in the match. Leading the way was 
Paisley Gibson with 13 kills. 
Jenna Curtis and 
Alessandra Meoni each finished with 11 kills. 
Kiley Metzger ended the match with 28 assists. On the defensive end, 
Hannah Benes and 
Josey Wickersham both had 10 digs.
 
The 'Rockers had an impressive .343% hitting percentage with 44 kills. They also had 12 aces in the match.
 
vs. Texas A&M - Kingsville
 
The Hardrockers took care of business in their second match of the classic defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville 3-0 (25-21; 25-21; 26-24). The 'Rockers had 40 kills in the match with Meoni leading the way with 15. 
Kiera Walsh had four blocks while Wickersham and 
Emma Grimm each had 11 digs on defense. The Hardrockers ended the match with 35 assists as Metzger had 30 of the assists.
 
With the two wins, the Hardrockers record is now 5-1 on the year.
