SALT LAKE CITY, Utah --- The Hardrockers soccer team was on the road in Salt Lake City Friday afternoon and put up a battle, especially on the defensive end but were unable to get a result in the RMAC opener.
The first half was mostly dominated by Westminster as they started aggressively and the Hardrockers were able to fend it off, despite being outshot and out cornered 8-1. The Hardrockers as they have done so well this season, defended extremely well, limiting Westminster's chances and the two went into the half with no score.
In the second half, the two teams would continue to stay scoreless until a penalty was called on the Hardrockers in the box in the 70
th minute, leading to a penalty kick by Jace Vance of the Griffins.
Daniel Freitas, the goalkeeper guessed wrong, and it was buried. 10 minutes later, Westminster got a brace, getting a headed goal from Jack Cardwell. That would be all that was needed as Westminster took a 2-0 victory.
