GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. --- The Hardrockers took on the 24th-ranked Colorado Mesa Mavericks on Sunday afternoon and were put to the test.
The Mavericks were aggressive and made Hardrocker goalkeeper
Daniel Freitas work hard, but he was up for the challenge in the first half. In the first half, Colorado Mesa put up 18 shots, with 10 coming on goal. Freitas saved 8 and would go on to record a career-high 12 saves, but Colorado Mesa went into the half with a 2-0 lead.
The Hardrockers would get an early second-half goal on a great run and play with South Dakota Mines on the counter, Jakob Miklas ran into the box, found
Hayden Jaramillo in space, and drilled a ball from just outside the box into the bottom left corner. Unfortunately, Colorado Mesa would score shortly thereafter and add one more later, ending the game with a 4-1 victory.

South Dakota Mines has a pair of home games this week, taking on Fort Lewis on Friday night for a 6:00 matchup with Adams State scheduled for senior day on Oct. 8 at 1:00 p.m.
