Rob Reagan Named Assistant Soccer Coach

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- Ahead of the 2023 season later today, the Interim Head Coach for the men's soccer program, Bill Schaefer has announced the hiring of an assistant coach.

Rob Reagan has been officially announced as the newest staff member and assistant soccer coach for South Dakota Mines.

"We are very happy to have Rob Reagan step into the role as an assistant," said Schaefer. "Rob comes to the Hardrocker family with a wealth of knowledge in soccer as well as teaching. He has been extremely influential within his roles in the Black Hills Rapids organization for several years as well as with the Rapid City Stevens soccer program. His teaching style, planning, preparation, and curriculum will be highly beneficial for the South Dakota Mines soccer program. He is the perfect fit to begin making his mark within the program and continue his work throughout the Rapid City community."

Reagan has served with the Black Hills Rapids for nearly a decade and is currently one of the head soccer coached and Assistant Director of Coaching. Within his duties, Reagan administers and coaches nearly 400 male and female soccer players from the ages of 11-19, including overseeing and designing the curriculum for the entire program and overseeing coaches' training.

In addition to his role with the Black Hills Rapids, Reagan has been an assistant soccer coach for Rapid City Stevens High School since 2018. In his role, he leads pre-season, in-season, and post-season training and game prep along with overseeing and designing conditioning programs. Reagan has helped lead Stevens to two state championship appearances.

Off the pitch, Reagan has been an instructor and department chair at Western Dakota Technical College since 2010.

Reagan graduated with his bachelors degree in business administration from Black Hills State University before going on to receive his Masters of Business Administration from Webster University.

"I am excited for this new opportunity," said Reagan. "I appreciate Coach Schaefer giving me the opportunity to be a part of the Hardrocker family and this athletic department and I'm excited to continue the relationship I have with him and to try to help to this program to the next level."
