RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Mines football program is inching closer to September 1st and the first game of the season.
Today, the running backs and tight ends are the focus.
The 2022 season saw some new faces emerge at the running back position and some experienced ones depart.
At the running back position,
Bryan Lumsden was a fresh face after not playing the 2021 season, while Orlando Westbrook was asked to serve a bigger role in the absence of Ahmad Lewis to graduation and
Kaleb Roth being out to begin the season.
This year, Lumsden and Westbrook return along with
Ty Harris who flased as a freshman in 2022, along with sixth year transfer from Bemidji State,
Jalen Frye. Frye is a former All-American and was an All-NSIC performer in 2022.
The tight ends are a little bit different story. Brothers, Josh and
Jake Leone are no longer a part of the team, neither is
Luke Wickersham.

The Hardrockers first home game is September 1st against Valley City State. That kickoff time is scheduled for 6:07 p.m. This game will also be aired on Midco Sports on cable providers throughout Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
