Flohr Adds Shawn Daniel as Offensive Line Coach

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Football and head coach Charlie Flohr has announced Shawn Daniel as the new offensive line coach.

Shawn Daniel comes to Rapid City after serving as the head coach at Simpson, an NAIA institution in the Frontier Conference. Daniel was the head coach for the Red Hawks when they started the football program in 2023.

"I am excited to announce Shawn Daniel as our new offensive line coach at South Dakota Mines," head coach Charlie Flohr said. "He brings in a tremendous amount of experience to the position. He has a lot of experience as a head coach, coordinator and as an offensive line coach. He is a phenomenal teacher of the game that stresses the fundamentals of offensive line play. He is a diligent recruiter with an extensive background in a lot of the same areas we currently recruit. I am excited to see Coach Daniel work with our group and continue to make them better in all aspects of our program."

Before his time with Simpson, Daniel had numerous positions at seven different schools dating back to 2001. He previously served as the offensive coordinator at Sterling College, Missouri Valley College and Lyon College.

Daniel was an offensive line coach at Midland from 2012-16 and at Southwestern Assemblies of God from 2007-12. Before that, he coached at St. Joseph High School and Trinity Bible College.

He attended and played at Trinity Bible College from 1997-01. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies in 2002 and earned a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Southwestern Assemblies of God in 2011.
