CHADRON, Neb. --- The South Dakota Mines track and field teams competed in the first day of the RMAC Championships and had some good early returns, despite not having a lot of action on day 1.

The men had two entries in the 10,000 Meter run to begin the day, with
Tyler Captain and
Brett Flerchinger running. Captain ran it in a time of 32:55.45 to take 12
th, while Flerchinger finished in 15th with a time of 33:12.65. In the 400 meter dash,
Ethan Pitlick ran a time of 49.40, the ninth-best mark in school history and good enough to advance to the finals on Sunday. In the 100 meter dash,
Eddie Johnson set a PR with a time of 11.21.
Erick Colman set a PR and the #7 mark in school history in the hammer throw, finishing in ninth overall. Currently, the Decathlon is halfway through, having completed five events today and having five more to go,
Aidan Thompson sits in second, with
Travis Kleinsasser in fifth.

In the 400 meter dash,
Adeline Wilson set a PR, running it in 1:03.55.
Jenna Sayler recorded a sixth place finish to finish as an all-conference selection in the hammer throw, firing It 48.43m.
Jaycie Stubbs won her third consecutive RMAC Championship in the Javelin, throwing 40.92 meters.

Day 2 begins at 9:15 a.m. tomorrow with the decathlon and heptathlon beginning at 9:45 with field events starting at 2:00 p.m.
