GREENWOOD, Ind. --- This morning, the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District team for football was announced.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Football teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
South Dakota Mines had four student-athletes selected to the Division II Academic All-District team.
Taylor Hojer,
Henry Dryden,
Hunter Newsom and
Kaleb Tischler were named Academic All-District.
This award combines on-court excellence with academic excellence and requires athletes to earn athletic recognition to be eligible for the award. In addition, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 and must be a starter or a key reserve.
Dryden is a redshirt sophomore who previously earned RMAC recognition both academically and athletically as a First Team All-Academic selection and a First Team All-RMAC selection. Dryden was also named to the D2CAA All-Super Region 4 team. Dryden is majoring in metallurgical engineering.
Taylor Hojer is a fifth-year player, majoring in civil engineering. Prior to this recognition, Hojer was an honorable mention and honor roll selection on the RMAC All-Conference and RMAC All-Academic teams.
Tischler is a junior electrical engineering major and was previously named honorable mention and honor roll on the RMAC All-Conference and RMAC All-Academic teams.
Hunter Newsom, similarly, was selected to the RMAC All-Conference and RMAC All-Academic team on the honorable mention and honor roll teams. Newsom is a junior, majoring in civil engineering.
