GREENWOOD, Ind. --- This afternoon, College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District team for volleyball was announced.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The Hardrockers had two student-athletes selected to the College Sports Communicators' All-District team in
Alessandra Meoni and
Kiley Metzger.
This award combines on-court excellence with academic excellence and requires athletes to excel on the court to be eligible for the award. In addition, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 and must be a starter or a key reserve. For the first time, the program now allows undergraduate transfers immediate eligibility.
Alessandra Meoni is a junior opposite/right side. She is a biomedical engineering major and in her first year as a Hardrocker after transferring in from Western Nebraska Community College.
Metzger is a senior but is planning to return in 2024 and obtain her master's degree. The Rock Rapids, Iowa native is a setter and majoring in electrical engineering.
