Box Score SALT LAKE CITY, Utah --- The South Dakota Mines volleyball team is on the road for their final two matches of the regular season. With a home playoff game on the line, the Hardrockers faced the Westminster University Griffins Friday night in Salt Lake City, UT.
The Hardrockers would go on to defeat the Griffins 3-1 (25-22; 18-25; 25-20; 25-20).
The win puts the Hardrockers record at 17-8 overall and 10-3 in the RMAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first set, the Hardrockers and Griffins were trading points until the Hardrockers went up 18-17 on a kill by
Alessandra Meoni. The Hardrockers would gain some momentum in the tight set and put the Griffins away 25-22. Meoni paced the Hardrockers with five kills, while
Kiley Metzger had nine assists.
Westminster got out to a quick 5-1 lead in the second, but the Hardrockers climbed their way back to tie the set 8-8 on an ace by
Paisley Gibson. The Griffins would ride a couple of runs, going ahead 20-13 late in the set. South Dakota Mines would pull within four, before Westminster would expand their lead again, and go on to win it, 25-18, evening the match 1-1.
The Hardrockers used a 4-0 run to take an early 7-3 lead in the third set. Another four-point run would give SDM an 16-11. A
Paisley Gibson kill would increase the advantage to six. The Hardrockers would close the door on the third set, winning it 25-20.
Early in the fourth set, the Hardrockers and Griffins traded blows early as neither team could pull away from each other. The set was tied 11-11 when the Hardrockers went on a 4-0 run to go up 15-11. Another 4-0 gave SDM a four-point lead, 22-18. Meoni would seal the deal with a kill and the Hardrockers would win 25-20 and win the match 3-1.

Ivy Vindivich and
Alessandra Meoni came up huge for the Hardrockers tonight at the net, ending the night with 18 kills while Meoni had 17…Metzger would set them up with 33 assists…
Hannah Benes and
Paisley Gibson would finish with double-digit digs with 18 and 10.

The Hardrockers will be back on the court tomorrow at 2:00 PM against the #11 Colorado Mesa University Mavericks. This will be the last regular season match for the Hardrockers.
