FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
1.
Jayden Johannsen has picked it up over the last couple of weeks and shown his Harlon Hill talent in multiple ways. Against Black Hills State, Johannsen put up 315 total yards and five combined touchdowns. For his play, he was named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week. In addition, he booted a 73-yard punt, tying a school record.
2. The Hardrockers are doing significant damage on the ground this season and last week was no different as they gashed Black Hills State for 227 yards on the ground for an average of 6.3 yards per rush.
Ty Harris led the attack with 101 yards on eight carries, while Johannsen rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
3.
JJ Nelson came up with a huge defensive play early in the third quarter. Tanner Clarkson had open field to the endzone on a long run but out of nowhere,
JJ Nelson came in with a strip at the 1-yard line. The Hardrockers would recover as
Will Lester fell on the ball, deflating any BHSU momentum.
4. Against Black Hills State, the Hardrockers owned the line of scrimmage, with the offensive line creating gaping holes, and tons of time for Johannsen to pick apart the defense. The defensive front seven was no slouch, putting constant pressure on Tanner Clarkson and recording four sacks plus seven tackles for loss.
5. The Hardrocker offense has been good on the ground and through the air, giving opponents fits, as the Hardrockers are top-40 in the nation at the Division II level in both rushing and passing.
