Jayden Johannsen Earns RMAC Offensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. --- On Monday afternoon, the RMAC selected and announced its player of the week selections for football.

For the first time this season, fourth in the last two seasons, and fifth in his career Jayden Johannsen was named Offensive Player of the Week. Five selections is a school record for South Dakota Mines for one award.

Coming off a year where he was a Harlon Hill nominee, Johannsen has gotten into a groove over the past couple of weeks in particular. This past weekend, Johannsen scored five touchdowns, two with his legs, and three through the air. Completing 19-30 passes for 237 yards and adding 78 yards on the ground with 12 carries, Johannsen did a number on the Black Hills State defense, leading to the 49-14 win.

Johannsen is having a fantastic year and is once again a Harlon Hill Award candidate as he continues to show that he is one of the best quarterbacks in Division II football. His national/RMAC ranks at the Division II level are as follows: Completion Percentage – 26th, 65.5%, completions per game – 12th, 22, passing efficiency – 3rd (RMAC), 143.9, passing touchdowns – 20th, 12, points responsible for – 9th, 102, Rushing TDs – 29th, 2nd (RMAC), 5, total offense – 14th, 294.8.

Johannsen and the Hardrockers are hosting #15 Western Colorado this weekend in a matchup that could have RMAC Championship implications. That game is scheduled to kick off from O'Harra Stadium right here in Rapid City at noon.
