RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines women's basketball hosted the Chadron State College Eagles on Saturday night at the King Center. The Eagles came away with the victory 67-60 over the Hardrockers.
 
How it Happened – The Hardrockers got things started early when 
Piper Bauer drained a 3-pointer in the first 30 seconds of play. The Rockers would not look back in the first quarter as they outscored the Eagles 15-6.
 
Madelyn Heiser gave the Hardrockers a 10-point lead two minutes into the second quarter on a running layup. The Rockers had a 13-point lead in the quarter but the Eagles clawed their way back into the game going on an 11-2 run. The Hardrockers answered by scoring the last nine points in the quarter to take a 31-21 lead into the half.
 
The Eagles erased a 13-point lead in the third quarter by scoring 22 points to the Hardrockers' 10. The Hardrockers trailed heading into the fourth quarter 43-41.
 
In the early parts of the fourth quarter, 
Sydnee Durtsche hit a jumper to bring the Hardrockers to within one, 45-44. The Eagles went up six, 55-49 until Bauer nailed a 3-pointer and the score was 55-52 with five minutes left in the game. The Eagles then went on an 8-0 run late in the fourth quarter to go up by 11, 63-52. Bauer hit a three to try and mount a comeback but it was too late as Chadron State defeated the Hardrockers 67-60.
 
Notes – Bauer led all scorers with 23 points, hitting 8-15 from the field and 7-13 from the three-point line…
Megan Alexander had eight rebounds, while Heiser had three assists.
 
Up Next – The Hardrockers will take the floor again this Friday and Saturday at the King Center. On Friday the Hardrockers will face off against Metro State Denver at 5:30 PM, and on Saturday they will play Colorado School of Mines at 4:00 PM.
