Des Moines, Iowa --- The National Association of Esports Coaches and Directors (NAECAD) announced its' College National Player of the Year and All-American Awards on Tuesday afternoon.
The NAECAD selected
Divo Cerjan as one of the All-Americans.
"I am extremely happy for Divo and our program," said head coach Mike Vander Hayden. "Divo's passion, energy, leadership, and dedication were instrumental in the success of the Rocket League squad this year from winning the inaugural RMAC Rocket League Invitational Championship which earned him Player of the Month honors for March to a third-place finish in the LevelNext Spring Showcase Twitter competition earning a $5,000 prize payout for our program. This is a well-deserved honor, congratulations Divo," added Vander Hayden.
These coveted awards recognize individuals for a balance of athletic achievement, sportsmanship, and citizenship. While elite performance in the game is important, these awards are aimed at recognizing the overall impact the individual has made. Example characteristics include:
• Impactful or notable in-game performance.
• Evidence of good sportsmanship and teamwork.
• Community service.
• Superior academic achievement.
• Overcoming personal obstacles.
To be eligible, student athletes must be nominated by a NAECAD member. Austin and the other All-Americans will be receiving their awards from NAECAD and will be recognized in the fall at a Regional NAECAD Clinic.
"I am really thrilled that I was selected for the NAECAD All-American for 2021-2022, said Cerjan." The announcement for it also could not have come at the better time considering I found out that I got this award during my birthday! I am really honored to be receiving this and I would not be in this position if I didn't have amazing people who were always there helping and supporting me. Always remember to keep your head up and push forward," continued Cerjan.
