Eldridge Earns 1st All-American Honors For Hardrocker Esports

League of Legends sophomore Gavin "SincereSupport" Eldridge was named a 2020-21 National Association of Esports Coaches and Directors All-American (NAECAD) the National Office announced in June. This is the first All-American award for Hardrocker esports in program history. The award was established to recognize individuals based on a balance of athletic achievement, sportsmanship, community service, academic achievement and the overall impact the individual has made within the game or esports.

A humbled Eldridge thanked the association and said, "It feels amazing to be the first Hardrocker along with the other student-athletes chosen to receive this award from other established esports programs.I hope to continue my journey through the improvement of collegiate esports here at South Dakota Mines Hardrocker esports."
Hardrocker esports Coordinator Mike Vander Heyden was also honored to receive national recognition.

"I am extremely happy for Gavin and our program. Gavin's passion, energy and dedication to esports are second to none," Vander Hayden said. "He has worked tirelessly to increase awareness of sports at South Dakota Mines. He was instrumental in the creation of the Grubby High School League and served as the league administrator. Competitively, Gavin was placed in a difficult position as a captain of a young team compromised of freshmen and sophomores. His leadership has been key in growing this team. Gavin is a thrill to coach and to work with."
