RAPID CITY, S.D. --- Athletic Director Joel Lueken along with Monument Health Orthopedics and Sports Medicine have announced the newest addition to the South Dakota Mines athletic staff.

Reginald "Reggie" Overton has been officially announced as the newest full-time member of the South Dakota Mines staff as the Director of Performance and will primarily oversee football and soccer. 

"We are extremely excited to welcome Reggie to the Hardrocker Family. He brings a wealth of experience and passion to our department," said Lueken.

Overton has worked in performance on a full-time basis since July 2017, most recently serving as the Director of Strength & Conditioning at D'Youville college from Aug. 2021-Apr. 2022.

Prior to that position with D'Youville College, Overton received his first head coaching job with Indiana University of Pennsylvania from Sept. 2020-Aug. 2021.

Before getting a head coaching position, Overton was an assistant at the University of North Carolina Wilmington with supervision over the following sports: softball, indoor/beach volleyball, swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, and women's basketball from Dec. 2018-Aug. 2020.

Overton had two stops as full-time positions preceding the position at UNCW, as the Assistant Strength & Conditioning coach for football at University at Buffalo and University of Cincinnati from Jan. 2018-Dec. 2018 and July 2017-Nov. 2017.

Overton served in four part-time positions before becoming a full-time performance coach, working with University of Louisiana Lafayette in a graduate assistant position from Aug. 2016-July 2017 following internships with the University of Kentucky, University of Montana, and Robert Morris University spanning from May 2014-July 2017.

While in college, Overton participated on the Lehigh University football team for two years from 2007-2008 before transferring to Mount Union to finish his playing career in 2009-10.

Overton graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Mount Union in 2012, and more recently attained a Master of Science in Sport Management from the University of Florida.

Overton began working in this position on April 4th.
