Outdoor Track and Field Wins 3 Titles in Season Opener

CANYON, Texas. --- The South Dakota Mines track and field teams opened their season in Texas with a solid performance.
 
South Dakota Mines won a total of 3 events, recorded 11 top-5 finishes, set 12 personal records, 9 Hardrocker top-10 marks, and had 1 provisional qualifying (PQ) mark and recorded 19 top-5 finishes.
 
The three first-place finishes were recorded by the following individuals: Brett Flerchinger – 3000m Steeplechase (10:15.06, PR), Jonathan Hopkins – Pole Vault (4.55m, PR, #8 on the Top-Ten List), Jaycie Stubbs – Javelin (38.53m, PR, #3 on Top-Ten List).
 
The additions to the Hardrocker top-ten list were made by the following athletes: Margaret Thompson – 5000m (20:01.62, #3, 3rd, PR), Olivia Jurrens – Discus (38.37m, #5, 2nd, PR), Warren Minerich – Hammer (52.12m, #4, 3rd, PR), Reid Kaiser – Hammer (47.78m, #9, 4th, PR) Isaiah Thurman – Hammer (46.66, #10, 5th), Amanda Cooley – Shot Put (11.57m, #8, PR),
