CANYON, Texas. --- The South Dakota Mines track and field teams opened their season in Texas with a solid performance.

South Dakota Mines won a total of 3 events, recorded 11 top-5 finishes, set 12 personal records, 9 Hardrocker top-10 marks, and had 1 provisional qualifying (PQ) mark and recorded 19 top-5 finishes.

The three first-place finishes were recorded by the following individuals:
Brett Flerchinger – 3000m Steeplechase (10:15.06, PR),
Jonathan Hopkins – Pole Vault (4.55m, PR, #8 on the Top-Ten List),
Jaycie Stubbs – Javelin (38.53m, PR, #3 on Top-Ten List).
