Track and Field Closes RMAC Championships on High Note

GUNNISON, Colo. --- The South Dakota Mines track and field teams wrapped the indoor part of the year at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship in Gunnison, CO this past weekend. University of Colorado Colorado Springs won both men's and women's divisions. The Hardrocker men finished 8th with 19 points and the women scored 7 points for 12th place.
 
On Friday the Rockers had 10 personal records and two provisional qualifying (PQ) marks. Kamryn Scully had a PR and PQ in the Pole Vault. Jeremiah Bridges set the school record and had a PQ in the 60m Hurdles. Brent Snyder had PRs in the 60m Shot Put, and High Jump while competing in the Heptathlon. Aidan Thompson tied his PR in the long jump (heptathlon), and Travis Kleinsasser had PRs in the heptathlon shot put and high jump. Macy McClure, Warren Minerich, and Erick Colman had PRs in the shot put. 
 
"It was a good meet for us," said head coach Steve Johnson. "Both teams really stepped up this weekend. We found a lot of points that weren't there coming in. I'm really proud of the way we competed."
