GOLDEN, Colo. --- On Thursday morning, the All-Super Region 4 Football teams were announced and the Hardrockers earned spots on the team.
Following the first 7-4 season since 2010, and the first back-to-back winning seasons since 1984-85, Senior wide receiver,
Jeremiah Bridges, and senior linebacker,
Kyante Christian were named to the D2CCA All-Super Region 4 Second Team.
These two athletes are the first football players in program history to be honored on the D2CCA Super Region list.
Bridges, a senior wide receiver from Atlanta was not only one of the best receivers in the RMAC but was also one of the best receivers in the country. He was 16th nationally at the Division II level in receiving touchdowns with 8. Bridges 1,233 receiving yards per game put him in 7th nationally. The 79 receptions he made were the 9th best total in the country. He notches a spot on this team after previously being named All-RMAC First Team.
Christian, a senior defensive lineman from Aurora, Colo. had a big year and was a big part of a defense that was able to put consistent pressure on the quarterback, earning his second consecutive first-team selection. On the season, he recorded a total of 49 tackles, with 11 tackles for loss (6th RMAC) and seven sacks (5th RMAC). He joins the list after being named to the All-Conference First Team in back-to-back seasons.
The sports information directors representing the 34 institutions in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and Lonestar Conference nominate and vote for the Super Region 4 Team.
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies, and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
