RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines Soccer team was at home wrapping up the home schedule on Sunday as they took on Westminster.
The Hardrockers played spirited and with energy but were unable to find the back of the net, falling in the game to two penalty kicks.
In the first half, Westminster earned a penalty kick 13 minutes into the game and
Daniel Freitas was up to the task initially but the ball bounced right back to Luke Merrill's feet and he put it to the back on the net.
In the second half, Westminster earned another penalty, this time it was JC Vasquez who scored it, giving the Griffins a 2-0 lead that they would end the game with.
The loss brings the Hardrockers record to 1-13-2 overall and 0-8 in conference play.
