WAYNE, NEB. --- The South Dakota Mines Men's Cross Country team participated in the Wildcat Classic, hosted by Wayne State University on Friday evening. The three runners for the Hardrockers finished in the top 4.

Head Coach
Steve Johnson stated, "it was a good day for us, the guys were competitive from the start and put together solid performances."

The Hardrockers had a great performance, having their only 3 participants finish in 2
nd, 3
rd, and 4
th place in the race.
Ryan Moen finished 2
nd after battling with the leader throughout the race. Moen posted a time of 26:44.68. He was followed by two Hardrockers who were neck-in-neck at the finish line, with
Tyler Captain coming in 3
rd, and
Owen Wagner finishing 4
th, running the 8K in 27:16.51, and 27:16.66 respectively. Coach Johnson commented on the individual runners, saying, "Tyler and Owen did a nice job moving up through the field and looked in control throughout the race", Coach Johnson continued, "Ryan had a nice day and ran with the leader through much of the race."

Coach Johnson is excited for what lies ahead for the team, adding "it will be exciting to see what happens when we bring the whole team together in a couple of weeks at Fort Hays State."

The Hardrockers head to the FHSU Tiger Open on Oct. 9 at Fort Hays State University.
