RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines Football program is excited to announce the addition of Austin Rose as their new Safeties coach.

"I am extremely excited to announce Coach Austin Rose to our Hardrocker Family as the new defensive backs coach here at South Dakota Mines, said Head Coach Flohr, Austin is a very detail orientated person with great communication skills which will allow him to teach the basic fundamentals to our players. With Austin's experience as a Division 1 football player and his years of experience coaching, I am excited to see him continue to develop our defensive backs as well as assisting with our special teams."

Rose was a graduate assistant coach at Midland University for two years from 2019-2020.

At Midland University, Rose coached the running back position. While at Midland Rose coached players who were named to the following honors:
-      All-America Honorable Mention All-Purpose
-      1st Team All-GPAC RB (2x)
-      1st Team All-GPAC Kick Returner
-      2nd Team All-GPAC Slot/H-Back
-      2nd Team All-GPAC Punt Returner

Prior to beginning his coaching career, Rose spent time as a running back and full back at the University of Nebraska, playing in 18 games between his junior and senior seasons. He was a two-time All-Big Ten academic honoree and a four-time University of Nebraska Scholar-Athlete.

"I am excited and blessed for this opportunity that Coach Flohr and Coach Winter have given me. When I got the call about the job it was a no brainer on what I wanted to do! These are great people here at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and I'm excited to see what the Hardrockers have in store for this fall" said Coach Rose.
