GOLDEN, Colo. --- The South Dakota Mines men's and women's track and field teams took a small group of competitors to the Pre-Conference Outdoor Track and Field Meet Saturday in Golden, Colorado, as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships are set to get underway this weekend in Pueblo, Colorado.
Andrew Ferris had a stellar day for the 'Rockers, earning second place during the men's 800-meter run. Ferris clocked a time of 1 minute 53.89 seconds to take runner-up while teammate
Isaac Orozco finished eighth with a 1:58.32.
Warren Minerich also had a solid day taking fourth place in the hammer throw after a toss of 157-feet-4-inches, and then grabbed sixth in the discus with a distance of 125-5.
Other Hardrocker highlights included:
Taegen Wells grabbed third place during the men's 400 hurdles (55.38) and then raced to a fifth-place finish in the 110 hurdles (15.59); Tim Dunham took fifth in the men's 5,000 run (15:53.68); Brent Snyder finished fifth in the men's javelin (133-0);
Jenna Sayler was fifth in the women's shot put (40-6.75); and
Katherine Mathieu finished sixth in the women's long jump (16-0.5).
