RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines indoor track and field will make the trek west up Interstate 90 for the Black Hills State Invitational at the Donald E. Young Event Center in Spearfish, South Dakota on Saturday. The meet will get started at 12:30 pm.
Last week the Hardrockers competed in the Chadron State Invite in Nebraska. During the event, the 'Rockers produced some personal-best records and one automatic national qualifier.
Erica Keeble earned her way to Nationals during the women's pole vault after clearing a height of 13-feet-3.75-inches. That mark ranks her third in the nation, first in the RMAC as well as set a new Chadron Meet and facility record.
To date, the Hardrockers have nine athletes sitting in the Top 10 in the RMAC in their respective events. This year, the top 14 in each event advance to the RMAC Indoor Championships, set for two weeks in Spearfish.
In the 60 meter hurdles, Taegan Wells is sitting in 7th with a time of 8.62.
Jade Cass is also in 7
th in the high jump with a mark of 6-4.25. In the men's pole vault,
Jonathan Hopkins is in 6
th (14-11) and
Ty Nickerson is in 8
th (14-9). Keeble leads the RMAC in the pole vault with her auto-qualifying mark and
Kamryn Scully is in 8
th with a 11-1 jump. In the weight throw,
Warren Minerich is 10
th (51-1) in the men's division and
Jenna Sayler (50-6) is in 8
th in the women's division. Hopkins is sitting in 1
st in the Heptathlon (4436 points), while Brent Synder is in 4
th (3230 points).
The Hardrockers will have one more event after this weekend before the RMAC Championships.
