'Rockers End Indoor Season On A High Note

The South Dakota School of Mines wrapped up the indoor season at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference meet this past Friday and Saturday. The meet was held at the Mountain Lion Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.

The Hardrocker women scored 22.5 points to finish in 9th place. SD Mines was led by Erica Keeble who won the pole vault with a school and meet record of 13 feet 7.25 inches. Keeble's jump put her in second in the nation and will head to the national tournament in Birmingham, AL on March 13-14. Senior Jayla Jarnagin finished her last RMAC Championship with a throw of 57 feet and 7 inches for second place in the weight throw. Jarnagin has a provisional qualifying mark for nationals with a toss of 60 feet 9.25 inches which she did at the Stinger Open last weekend. Jarnagin also placed 8th in the shot put.

The men's team finished the weekend with 7.5 points for 10th.  Westley Siebdrath finished 5th in the weight throw and 9th in the shot put. In the weight throw Siebdrath threw 55 feet and 3.75 inches for a personal record. In the shot put he tossed 47 feet and 5.75 inches. Wyatt Kainz leaped 6 feet 4.25 inches for 6th in the high jump.

"We're pretty happy with the way the meet turned out", said head coach Steve Johnson. "It was a slow start, but things started rolling late on Friday as we picked up points in the weight throw and the pole vault. We got the points we should have and even a few we weren't supposed to get. The women scored the most points they've ever scored indoors."
