The South Dakota School of Mines track and field team sent a limited number of athletes to Mankato, Minn, to compete in the Ted Nelson Classic on Saturday. The Rockers held their own in the 22 team invite.
In the men's 200-meter final, Korder Cropsey (SR) placed 12th with a time of 22.92. Senior Kevin Ptak crossed the finish line in 7th with a time of 50.51. The 4x400 meter relay team of Cropsey, Ptak, Danny Conlisk and Adam Namyst finished third with a time of 3:38.13. The field events saw freshman Travis Kleinsasser jump come in seventh in the pole vault with a jump of 14 feet-5.25 inches.
Jayla Jarnagin turned in a turned in a good day with a 9th place toss in the weight throw and 20th in the standings in the shot put. Other Lady Rockers competing in the shot put and weight throw were Jenna Sayler, Macy McClure, and Olivia Jurrens.
