The South Dakota School of Mines track and field team made their final trek to Black Hills State University for the indoor season to compete at the Stinger Open this weekend.
The Rockers' men's team was led by freshman Danny Conlisk, junior Wyatt Kainz, and senior Westley Siebdrath. All three scored 8 points each placing second in their respective events. Conlisk ran the 400-meter in a time of 52.27. In the high jump Kainz jumped 6 feet 3.25 inches. Siebdrath tossed 54 feet 2.5 inches in the weight throw.
Scoring 6 points each for the Hardrockers were freshman Jade Cass (high jump), senior Darren Nissen (long jump) and freshman Steven Nolasco (triple jump).
The Lady Hardrockers Jayla Jarnagin threw 60 feet 9.25 inches in the weight throw to finish first overall. The toss scored Jarnagin a NCAA Div II provisional mark. In the high jump, freshman Morgan Thompson jumped 5 feet 1.25 inches to place first. Thompson also finished third in the triple jump at 32 feet 8.25 inches. In the women's shot put, freshman Jenna Sayler tossed 41 feet 8.75 inches for third.
The Hardrockers will now head to Colorado Springs, CO for the RMAC Indoor Championships. The RMAC will be held on the campus of the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs. The meet will kickoff o
