Brookings, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines indoor track and field team competed at the South Dakota State University Invite on Friday and Saturday.
"We had a very strong showing this weekend", said head coach
Steve Johnson. "The Rockers broke three school records and tied one school record and one meet record. A long the way, the Hardrockers also set 23 personal records."
The Hardrocker women scored 17 points to finish in 10th out of 22 teams. The men scored 11 to place 13th out of 26 teams.
"It was great to see everyone competing hard and building on each other's successes," Johnson said.
Erica Keeble continues to dominate the field in the pole vault this year. She tied the meet and school record with a jump of 13 feet – 3.50 inches to place first. The women's 4x400 meter relay team of
Kayla Gagen,
Katherine Mathieu, Keeble, and
Kamryn Scully took 7 seconds off the old school record to finish in 4th overall.
Morgan Thompson was 6th in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet-1.75 inches.
Ryan Moen broke two school records in the mile run and the 3000-meter run. In the 3000-meter, Moen placed 4th with a time of 8:36.05. Moen also ran the mile in a time of 4:19.99 to finish 16th overall. The men's 4x400 meter relay of
Korder Cropsey,
Danny Conlisk,
Kevin Ptak, and
Adam Namyst ran to a 7th place finish with a time of 3:26.19.

Grant Bauer (800 meter), Sam Elliot (800 meter),
Austin Hammer (800 meter),
Joel Haas (mile),
Timothy Dunham (mile and 5,000 meter),
Theron Singleton (mile and 5,000 meter), and
MacAuley Haag (triple jump).
Up next for the Hardrockers is the Stinger Open this Saturday at Black Hills State University. This will be the Rockers last meet before the RMAC Indoor Championships in Colorado Springs February 28-29.
