SPEARFISH, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Black Hills State Dave Little Indoor Meet Saturday in Spearfish, South Dakota, where the Hardrockers registered some competitive marks.
Jayla Jarnagin broke her own school record and improved on her NCAA Div. II provision qualification in the women's weight throw after a toss of 58-feet-5.75-inches and earned first place in the event as well. The mark also moved her up to No. 17 in the country.
Erica Keeble, who is second in the country in the women's pole vault, took first place Saturday after clearing a height of 13-1.5.
Other Hardrocker highlights included:
Ryan Moen clocked a time of 15 minutes 44. 10 seconds during the men's 5,000-meter run and took first place in the event;
Korder Cropsey finished third in the 200 dash (23.10);
Kevin Ptak posted a 51.07 in the men's 400 and took third place; the women's 4x400 relay team, made up of Kayla Gaygen, Keeble, Katerin Mathieu and
Kamryn Scully , took second place on Saturday (4:15.48) and
Dakin Nolan took second in the men's weight throw after a toss of 53-11.75.
Next up, the Hardrockers will be back up in Spearfish on Saturday for the Myrle Hanson Memorial Open.
