Williams Named RMAC Offensive Player Of The Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. --- South Dakota School of Mines' Allec Williams was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week announced from the league office on Monday in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for his efforts this past weekend in which the Hardrockers defeated both Colorado School of Mines (84-69) and University of Colorado Colorado Springs (71-49).

Williams' performance over the weekend played a major role in the Hardrockers success taking down two teams ahead of them in the conference standings.

Friday night in the win over CSM, the senior guard from Albany, Georgia, had a season high 26 points. He was 8-12 from the field, including 3-3 from three-point range and shot 68 percent. He also was 7-8 from the free throw line, tacked on three steals, one block and five assists.

On Saturday against UCCS, Williams was a one-man wrecking crew over UCCS, shooting 10-20 from field (several were highlight real one-on-one drives to the basket) to register 22 points, including 2-6 from three-point range. He was credited with two assists, three steals and one block in the winning effort and shot 50 percent.

"It was great to see such an outstanding performance from Allec," said Hardrocker men's basketball head coach Eric Glenn. "He let the game come to him and he played very well in transition."

Williams leads the team in scoring so far this season with 245 points and is ranked 16th in the conference averaging 14.4 markers a game.
