RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's volleyball team and head coach
Lauren Torvi announced the final member of the Hardrockers' 2019 roster with the addition of sophomore transfer
Emma Murphy. Murphy comes to the Hardrocker volleyball program after spending her freshman season at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
"We are thrilled to complete our roster for the 2019 season with Emma. Upon first meeting Emma it was clear to us that she was brilliant, determined and would be a great fit in our culture," Torvi said.
The 5-foot-7-inch setter/ defensive specialist is originally from Spearfish, South Dakota. In her time attending Spearfish High School, Murphy garnished two all-conference selections, KOTA player of the week and led her team to a third-place finish in the 2015 SD State Volleyball Tournament.
"I have no doubt in my mind that Emma will be very academically successful here at SD Mines as well as impact our program greatly," Torvi said.
Murphy plans to pursue a degree in Health Sciences while at South Dakota Mines.
" I am excited to be a part of this rebuilding process and help create a winning program at Mines," Murphy said.
