Taylor Molstad was named to the All Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Second Team while junior
Sami Steffeck earned All-RMAC Honorable Mention accolades announced by the league office Tuesday in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Molstad, a 5-foot-10-inch guard from Rapid City, South Dakota, had an outstanding year for the Lady Hardrockers, leading the team in scoring with 346 points and averaging 13.3 per game to ranked ninth in the RMAC. She also cashed in for 48 three-pointers on the season and averaged 1.8 per game to put her 12
th in the conference; and shot 80 percent from the free throw line, making good on 68-85 attempts and ranked seventh in the RMAC.
Molstad also breached the 1,000-point milestone in her career at SD Mines and finished ranked 22
nd on the Hardrockers' all-time scoring list tallying 1,056 points in her four-year career. The Interdisciplinary Sciences major also finished her time as a Lady 'Rocker ranked fifth all-time in three-pointers made with 138.
Molstad closed out the season with three-straight games scoring 22 points-or-more and had five on the season. She earned an RMAC Offensive Player of The Week honor as well.
Steffeck, a 5-10 guard from Fort Collins, Colorado, also had a productive season for the Hardrockers. The Industrial Engineering major set a new record for three-pointers made in a season with 72 and ranked second in the RMAC average 2.8 per game and third in three-point percentage at 38 percent.
Steffeck ranked second for SD Mines with racking up 299 points and averaging 11.5 ppg and moved to second all-time at SD Mines in three-pointers made in a career with 184. This is Steffeck's second straight RMAC Honorable Mention recognition.

Colorado Mesa University's Jaylyn Duran, Western Colorado University's Tammarrah Gothard and Colorado School of Mines' Denali Pinto were named the 2018-19 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Women's Basketball Player, Defensive Player, and Freshman of the Year, respectively. CMU's head coach Taylor Wagner was named Coach of the Year. These major awards were announced on Tuesday, along with the All-RMAC teams.
The major awards and the All-RMAC First and Second Teams were voted on by the conference's 16 head women's basketball coaches. Coaches could not vote for their own student-athletes. Student-athletes who received one First Team vote or two Second Team votes were named Honorable Mention.
Duran, a senior guard is currently ranked No. 1 in the RMAC in points per game at 18.4. The two-time RMAC Offensive Player of the Week, also leads the conference in most three-point field goals made with 81. Duran also earned the USBWA Player of the Week honor in December after posting back-to-back 30-point performances.
Gothard who helped lead the Mountaineers to their first RMAC Tournament appearance in seven years. The senior leads the conference in steals with 66 and steals per game at 2.54. Gothard also is second in the RMAC with 1.81 assists to each turnover. Gothard tallied 105 assists in the regular-season, which is the eighth most assists by a Western student-athlete in a single season.
Pinto has had a standout year as a freshman, earning her Freshman of the Year recognition. The Boulder, Colorado native has posted two double-doubles this season as she has earned RMAC Player of the Week honors twice. Pinto scored a season-high 33 points against CSU-Pueblo as she is ranked fifth in the conference in scoring, while averaging 14.6 per game. Pinto holds the eighth highest field goal percentage in the RMAC and top on the Orediggers squad, shooting at .401.
Taylor Wagner of Colorado Mesa is the RMAC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year. The seventh-year head coach for the Mavericks led his squad to the RMAC regular season championship title as they posted a 23-3 regular season record and a 20-2 conference record. This is Wagner's fourth Coach of the Year award as he won it three consecutive years (2013-15).
