Elers Earns Another RMAC Defensive Player Of The Week Honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- South Dakota School of Mines junior Logan Elers has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week after his performance this past weekend at New Mexico Highlands and CSU-Pueblo. The award was announced Monday by the league office in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Elers continues to excel as the season progresses. The 6-foot-7-inch Metallurgical Engineering major from Roturau, New Zealand, recorded back-to-back double doubles on the road this past weekend and helped his team earned a split on the Hardrockers' longest road trip of the season.

SD Mines came up short in a shootout with the NMHU Cowboys, 95-82, and then bounced back with a big win over the Thunderwolves on Saturday, 80-66.

Elers collected 10 rebounds in each RMAC bout and now has his fourth double-double on the year. He also averaged 14 points over the weekend, registering 15 on Friday and 13 on Saturday. Elers now has 164 total rebounds on the season and is averaging 6.7 per game.

"Logan had another outstanding performance this weekend and I'm glad to see his efforts recognized by the conference," said Hardrocker men's basketball head coach Eric Glenn. "He has a real knack for finding the basketball and is as physical a player that there is in the RMAC right now."
