RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball team had everything rolling Saturday night as the Hardrockers mauled the Adams State Grizzlie women, 75-46, during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
The 'Rockers jumped out to a 12-2 advantage and kept ASU in the rear-view mirror. The home team outscored the Grizzlies, 27-7, and went into halftime with a 21-point lead, 46-25. SD Mines extended its edge to 27 markers after the third quarter, 61-34, and then outscored the visitors, 14-12, in the final frame as the Hardrockers earned their second RMAC win of the season.
SD Mines finished the game shooting 46.7 percent from the field, connecting on 28-60 attempts, including 5-26 from the three-point line and had a 14-22 performance from the foul line. The 'Rockers hauled in 29 rebounds, 47 rebounds, collected 13 assists, 10 steals and three blocked shots.
Adams State made good on 17-54 shots to shoot 31.5 percent from the field, including 7-24 from behind the arch and 15-10 from the free throw line. The Grizz tallied 29 rebounds, had nine assists, five steals and two blocked shots.
Anna Haugen earned her fifth double-double of the season for the 'Rockers, netting 21 points and 10 rebounds. She was also credited with three steals on the night.
Molly McCabe contributed with 12 markers, six rebounds and one steal; while
Ryan Weiss cashed in for 11 points and an assist.
Sami Steffeck and
Sydney Leeper each dished in seven points.
