Hardrockers Handle The Saints, 90-41

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball team closed out 2019 with a strong and convincing win over Presentation College, 90-41, during a non-conference game at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The win pushed the 'Rockers to 4-5 on the season as the team will take a two-weak hiatus from competition and will next pick up action and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play Jan. 3 and 4 back home in Goodell Gymnasium.

In Thursday's bout, the Hardrockers jumped out to a 24-11 advantage and extended their lead to 23 points at halftime,  46-22. SD Mines outscored the Saints, 24-12, in the third quarter and added 20 points in the fourth quarter while holding Presentation College to seven points.

SD Mines shot 44.6 percent from the field Thursday, connecting on 33-74 attempts, including a 13-33 performance from the three-point line. They tacked on 11-18 on free throws, came down with 45 rebounds, netted 16 assists, 15 steals and one blocked shot.

Individually, Ryan Weiss paced the 'Rockers with 24 points, four rebounds, two steals and an assist. Michaela Shaklee, Anna Combalia and Naomi Hidalgo all cashed in with nine markers each while Cooper Courtney and Sami Steffeck each added eight points. Hidalgo led the home squad with nine rebounds.
