RAPID CITY, S.D.--- The South Dakota School of Mines Men's and Women's track & field teams are set to travel to Mankato, Minnesota Saturday as the Hardrockers will compete in the Ted Nelson Classic on the campus of Minnesota State University - Mankato.
The Meet is slated for a 10 a.m. start.
Last weekend the SD Mines thinclads traveled to Spearfish, South Dakota for the Black Hills State Dave Little Meet. Both the men's and women's team had bright moments throughout two-day event. The men's team took silver as a team with a score of 165.5 and the women finished fourth with a score of 55.5.
This weekend in Mankato you should keep an eye out for the following Lady 'Rockers
- Erica Keeble continues to impress in the pole vault. Keeble has once again improved on her first place ranking in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with her new height of 3.85m, Keeble set this height last weekend in Spearfish which also improved on her school record.
-Erica Westerman ran her fastest time of the year in the 800 meter run last weekend in Spearfish She improved her time to 2:21.65. With this time Westerman moves to 16
th place in the RMAC rankings.
-Adeline Staatmeyer in the 3,000 run sits in 19
th place in the RMAC rankings with a time of 10:41.29 -- a time that she set two weeks ago in Chadron, Nebraska.
- Freshman Taylor Bright broke into the top 25 with her collegiate PR in the 5,000 run last weekend in Spearfish. Bright registered a time of 22:06.79.
-The 4x400 relay team set their best time of the year last weekend with a time of 4:17.82. The relay team is made up of
Katherine Mathieu, Kayla Gagen, Annalie Jannus and Westerman. They currently rank 10
th in the RMAC.
- The Distance Medley Relay team moved into the Top 5 after last week's performance. The team made up of Westerman, Gagen, Mathieu and Straatmeyer finished second in Spearfish with a time of 12:34.67 and was fast enough for a new school record.
Hardrockers To Watch in the Men's Division
- Jonathon Murray in the 400 dash is have a great senior season. Murray sits in third in RMAC rankings with his fastest time in this event was back in December when he posted a 48.71. Also in the 400 is Kevin Ptak, who moves into eighth place in the RMAC after setting his best time of the year last weekend in Spearfish -- Ptak clocked in with a time of 50.32.
- Andrew Ferris sits in eighth place in the 800 run after he ran a time of 1:54.39 two weeks ago in Chadron.
- Chase Woods moves to 16th in the mile run after recording his best time of the year. Woods ran a 4:19.87 last weekend.
- In the 3,000 Ryan Moen ranks in at 13th in the RMAC with a time of 8:33.78 -- a time that he set two weeks ago.
- The Men's 4x400 relay team stays in 6th place in the RMAC with a time they set two weeks ago in Chadron 3:20.99. The relay team consist of Korder Cropsey, Ptak, Tel Bostwick, and Murray. The team finished second in Spearfish last weekend with a time of 3:24.19.
- The DMR squad also ranks sixth in the RMAC as they set their best time of the year last weekend, as well as new school record, registering a 10:13.33. The DMR team is made up of Wood, Murray, Ferris and Jacob Huber.
- Casey Skillingstad posted his best height of the year in the pole vault as he reached the height of 4.27 meters, moving him into 11th in the RMAC rankings.
- Cody Allen is currently ranked fourth in the RMAC in the shot put. Allen's best distance this year is 16.00 meters. He set this at the Yellow Jacket Holiday Classic back in December.
- Westley Siebdrath sits in the third spot in the RMAC ranking for the weight throw. His best throw of the season came two weeks ago in Chadron when he threw 16.14.
