RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's and women's indoor track & field teams will travel to Nebraska this Sunday for the Chadron State College Open. Field events for the meet start at 10 a.m. while the running events are slated for an 11 a.m. start. This will be the Hardrockers fourth meet of the indoor season and the only time they will travel to Chadron this year. This event will take place on the campus of Chadron State College.
Hardrockers to keep an eye on this weekend
- Erica Keeble is in the top spot in ranking for the Pole Vault, her record height is 3.75m, and she is also a qualifier for the National Meet at this height. Her mark from the December meet (at BHSU) was 3.75 which puts her in first place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and seventh in the nation.
- Cody Allen continues to improve this year after his stellar freshman season and is now ranks second in the shot put after a season-best toss of 16 meters and is ranked fifth in the weight throw with a mark of 15.02 meters.
- In the women's mile, keep an eye out for Straatmeyer who is currently ranked 12th in the conference with a time of 5:17.72.
- Erica Westerman will be running the 3,000 and is 19th in the RMAC with a time of 11:13.51 -- a time that she set in the SDSU Holiday Invite in November.
- Tana Dahlberg sits in 18th place for the weight throw, with a distance of 12.14m.
- Keep an eye out for Jeremy Gonzales and Korder Cropsey, both are tied for 16th in the conference for the 60 meter with a time of 7.16.
- Jonathon Murray is ranked 3rd in the conference for the 400 meters, his time in this event is 48.71. He is the indoor record holder and is poised to break his own record this season.
- Andrew Ferris is currently in 13th for the 800 meter and ranked 15th for the mile with a time of 4:23.31 just behind teammate Jacob Huber who is in 14th (4:22.35).
- Chase Wood ranks eighth in the conference for the 3,000 with a time of 8:54.27 a time that he set at the SDSU Holiday Invite in November.
- In the pole vault Casey Skillingstad rounds out the Top 10 with a height of 4.35 meters after taking first place last weekend at BHSU.
- Darren Nissen is ranked 13th in the long jump in the conference.
- Carter Kasuske is currently ranks 12th with a distance of 13.16 meters in the triple jump.
