Rapid City, S.D .--- The Lady Rockers volleyball will be hitting the road this weekend for two matches --- the first will be Friday as they take on CSU-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colorado, in a 7 p.m. matchup.
The Thunderwolves are entering the game with a 3-9 record on the year, having won on two of their last nine games.
On Saturday, the Hardrockers will travel down to Las Vegas, New MexicoM to play against New Mexico Highlands University, with the match set for 6 p.m. The New Mexico Highlands volleyball team is currently sitting at a 4-7 record for the season. They will play Black Hills State University on Friday before taking on the Hardrockers on Saturday evening.
This past weekend, CSUP fell to New Mexico Highlands, 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 22-25, 21-25) on Tuesday.
NHMHU's Tiffany Matchett finished the match with 13 kills to go along with 14 digs.
Cynthia Norris had eight kills,
Julie Staffler finished with seven kills and
Stacy Johnson had six.
Celina Naranjo had a team-high 21 assists while
Soleil Gandara added 14,
Elena Rivera led the team with 33 digs and
Camryn Nelson had two kills, three aces and 11 digs.
The Hardrockers opened RMAC play last weekend, hosting Dixie State on Friday and Westminster on Saturday. Dixie State proved to be too much as they defeated the Hardrockers in three sets. Saturday however was a different story.
The Hardrockers took the first set against Westminster, winning, 25-17. In the second set, the Hardrockers found themselves in a 17-9 deficit, but were able to turn the set around and win 26-24. In the third and final set the Hardrockers put on another dominant performance as they took the game and the match, 25-17.
The Hardrockers improved their record to 3-7 and have won three out of their last four matches.
SD Mines heads into the weekend having won three of their last four. The Hardrockers feature the RMAC leader in kills per set in 6-foot-1 freshman
Dana Thomson who is averaging 4.83 per game - more than a kill per set better than the next player in the conference.
Shyann Bastian leads the team in assists per game at 6.48.
