SD Mines Netters Take Long Road Trip This Weekend

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines volleyball team hits the road this weekend after opening Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play at home last week. The Lady Hardrockers defeated Dickinson State last Tuesday, 3-0, in a non-conference match, before falling to Fort Lewis College, 3-1, and Adams State, 3-0.

The Lady Hardrockers will make their longest road trip of the season traveling to play New Mexico Highlands on Friday, followed by CSU-Pueblo on Saturday.

New Mexico Highlands is 0-2 in the RMAC and 3-3 overall on the season thus far. After winning three of their first four matchups, the Mustangs dropped both of their first conference games to Colorado School of Mines (3-1) and Colorado Christian University (3-0).

"(New Mexico) Highlands have been struggling as of late," said Hardrocker volleyball head coach Doug Tabbert. "The Mustangs have some real talent but overall they have struggled."

SD Mines will also travel to Pueblo, Colo., for a Saturday match against the Thunderwolves, who are 3-8 on the season, and 1-1 in the RMAC.  After opening their conference schedule with a win at Colorado Christian, CSU-Pueblo followed that with a loss in straight sets to the No. 17 team in the country ---Colorado Mines.

"We are hoping to put some decent matches together this weekend," Tabbert said. "We need to find a little more offense and we have to block better. We will keep working and keep getting better."

The Lady Rockers are 0-2 in conference and 1-10 on the season. They will look to turn their fortunes with results from their RMAC matchups this weekend.
